AFTER 15 YEARS OF ROCKIN’ OUT IN VARIOUS BANDS, Sébastien Filiatrault and Bruno Longpré, AKA Rat & Burger for the fans, they dropped everything one day, gathered around a messy table with a gazillion Pabst Blue Ribbon, 2 guitars and the will to take over the world. Since the 2012 release of the first EP "Turbo Power Excellent", pretty much all the underground punk rock scene from the Province of Québec started to have their eyes set on the new phenomenon hailing from Santa-Teresa that was The Matchup. Following up the next year with “Alternative To Metal”, the band delivered some of its most memorable anthems, including “Welcome Tomorrow”, “Follow Me Home”, “The Game” and “Low”. Quickly, the band grew a bigger following at its concerts, relying mostly on the power of their music and that right after the release of their third EP "Cool Your Djent (2015). From that moment on, the guys have been more driven than ever to write a whole new chapter in The Matchup’s history. They have chosen to join forces with Hell for Breakfast, a new division of the Montreal-based record label Slam Disques, to officially launch their more recent project, “Straight to the Core”, that featured one of their rare songs in French, “Roadtrip”, accompanied by a music video that was nominated for “Music Video of the Year” at the GAMIQ in 2020. As their popularity skyrockets with an ever-growing fanbase, they took the decision to release a string of incredible singles, starting with “Situations“ in May 2024 and then “You Got the Music“ later in October. In August 2025, they released their single “Now or Never (As Life Goes By)“. Since then, they are working on new singles which should come out soon.

APRÈS PLUS DE 15 ANS À ROCKER DANS DES BANDS DIFFÉRENTS, Sébastien Filiatrault et Bruno Longpré, alias Rat & Burger pour les intimes, ont décidé de se rejoindre autour d’une table remplie de Pabst avec deux guitares et l’envie de conquérir le monde. Depuis la sortie de leur premier EP “Turbo Power Excellent“ en 2012, toute la scène underground punk-rock du Québec a commencé à garder un œil sur ce phénomène tout droit venu de Sainte-Thérèse. L’année suivante, avec Alternative To Metal, le band a offert au public leurs hymnes les plus mémorables, avec “Welcome Tomorrow“, “Follow Me Home“, “The Game“ et “Low“. Rapidement, le band capte énormément d’attention et le nombre de fans ne cesse de grossir grâce au pouvoir de leur musique. Juste après la sortie de leur troisième EP “Cool Your Djent“ (2015). Maintenant, les gars sont plus motivés que jamais et sont prêts à écrire un nouveau chapitre dans l’histoire des Matchup! De plus, ils ont décidé de rejoindre le label Hell For Breakfast, la nouvelle division du label montréalais Slam Disques pour officiellement sortir leur plus récent projet “Straight to the Core“, accompagné d’un clip pour leur rare single francophone “Roadtrip“, qui s’est mérité une nomination pour « Vidéoclip de l’année » au GAMIQ en 2020. Alors que leur popularité continue à monter en flèche avec une fanbase toujours plus grande, ils prennent la décision de sortir une série d’incroyables singles, incluant “Situations“ en mai 2024 puis “You Got the Music“ plus tard en octobre. En août 2025, ils ont sorti leur single “Now or Never (As Life Goes By)“ Depuis, ils travaillent sur de nouveaux singles qui paraîtront prochainement.
